The PER of South Iracoubo is located between the communes of Mana, Iracoubo and Saint-Élie in northwestern French Guiana, 120 km west of Cayenne. This PER covers a total area of 208,6 km² in the geological continuity of the PER of Bon Espoir, with the same exploration strategies. This PER was granted in February 2010 to Golden Star Ressources Minières LLP, which became Armina Ressources Minières LLP following the acquisition of Golden Star Resources Ltd.’s mining titles by Auplata.
1975 to 1995 | Prospection by Inventaire Minier de Guyane.
1999 to 2003 | Extraction of alluvial gold, under Extraction Authorizations, by local artisans.
2007 | EPL application submitted for Iracoubo-Sud by Golden Star Ressources Minières S.A.R.L.
2010 | Iracoubo Sud EPL granted.
2010 | Following its takeover by Auplata, Golden Star Ressources Minières S.A.R.L. becomes Armina Ressources Minières S.A.R.L.
2014 | Strategic joint-venture agreement is signed with Newmont Mining.
2016 | First exploration phase completed under the partnership with Newmont Mining : Newmont holds 51% of the capital of Armina Ressources Minières. Auplata retains 49% of the joint venture.
